How to play Imports on your Playstation without voiding the warranty or having to lose your system while someone installs a chip on the board. While we do have very experienced Technicians and offer 2 years warranty on their work, we realise there are a lot of people out there now that have purchased a bunch of mod chips and are offering to install them for you, or sell them to you without the expertise required to do so. This has caused some people to have either destroyed systems or be left with a problem that they can't turn to anyone to fix, usually resulting in us having to charge a service fee for repairs. What's the way around this? By using one of the new Pro Action Replay external devices, you can play any game on your Playstation without voiding your original Sony Warranty. There are no installations to perform, it simply plugs in the External Parallel Port of your Playstation. A menu then comes on screen to offer you choices from Inserting Cheat Codes (for unlimited life, unlimited ammo, level selects, etc.), Screen Grabber features, Audio and Video play features (to watch FMV's from games without playing the game!) and of course the ability to play imports by simply loading an original territory disc (PAL disc for PAL console, NTSC disc for NTSC console) and the new Pro Action Replay will read the boot sector, stop the disc and wait for you to insert the disc you want to play. You then simply press [start] and your away. Simple, easy and no mess! Overriding the New Encryption Protection Scheme. In late 1998 Sony introduced a new Encryption Protection Scheme to incorporate into their games, the first of these being Poporoque. The new algorithm is designed to detect the presence of a mod chip and cause an error in the game, thereby disabling it from playing on any system that has been modified or does not have the country of origin (or territory) ROM that the code looks for. This basically means that if you have a Modded console, the games with this new code will not run. Already mod chip manufacturers have come up with a new chip that is supposedly undetectable, however because it is a software routine included in the game, it is quite easy to update it to recognise newer chips. So by getting your system re-modified may not be the answer and will certainly cost you $$$ each time you have it done. By using the new Pro Action Replay you can insert the specific codes below for each game that requires it and disable the effect of the lockout protection. This will then allow the game to boot and play as normal.
