Q. When will Xbox 360 be available?
|
|
The new Xbox 360 console is due for release in US and Japan Territories November and
December 2005 respectively. An Australian release date has not been confirmed as yet,
although we expect a 2nd or 3rd quarter 2006 Aus release. Burn Direct is accepting
orders for the US and Japan version consoles now and will also be fully supporting
the Australian version when released.

|
Q. When can I order an Xbox 360?
|
|
Burn Direct is accepting orders for Xbox 360 consoles right now! All pre-orders will
automatically go on a 'reserved' waiting list with no deposit required and will have
the option to pay for their purchase upon release of the Xbox 360 on a first in first
serve basis.
In addition, Members will also have the option to pay a deposit for their pre-order
and move up the pre-order list to a 'prepaid' waiting list. Those on the prepaid
waiting list will receive first priority on shipments when the Xbox 360 is launched
and have the option to purchase before those on the reserved waiting list.
All members will receive email updates containing the latest availability info,
including different bundles, pricing and purchasing options. Upon receipt of the
email, members will have the option to confirm their order at the price and bundle
that is available at the time to have their order shipped.
Please note!: As with all new console launches, stocks will be very limited during
the first few shipments, especially with a Christmas launch, the busiest time of year,
so it is highly recommended to pre-order your Xbox 360 console as soon as possible
to avoid disappointment!

|
Q. I've seen it for $[?] in [?] country, how much will I pay in Australia?
|
|
Pricing is always complicated and difficult info to provide when a new release
console is launched, many factors, including limited availability, bundles available
on launch and exchange rates play a significant role in the final price. Burn Direct
will always provide the lowest prices possible and all pricing will be inclusive of
GST, Customs Clearance, Shipping and Insurance to Australia and local warranties on
the console.
All members on the preorder lists for the Xbox 360 will be notified of pricing and
availability information as it becomes available. These updates will be sent to your
email on your membership, so make sure your membership details are up to date. Once
you receive this email and your order comes up on the waiting list, you will have to
option to purchase at the current available price, or wait until a price that suits
you is available.
** Please do not send through emails querying the price of the console as it will
not be available until close to or on the launch in each territory as per above
details. Pricing will be emailed to members on the waiting lists and updated on the
site as it becomes available. **

Q. Can I buy an Xbox 360 from another country and use it in my country?
|
|
Yes! As with any console, you will be able play Xbox 360 in any country. Depending
on your country you may need an voltage adaptor and/or compatible TV.
Note: Most TVs sold in the past 5 years are multi-region compatible and will
automatically change to the correct setting with no additional input. See below for
more info on TVs.
Xbox 360 may also contain a software region lock, for more info on this, please see
below.

|
Q. Do I need a voltage converter to use an import Xbox 360 console?
|
|
If Xbox 360 continues the trend of previous consoles, the US and Japan versions will
accept input of 100v~110v as per their native country voltage. To use a console like
this in a country like Australia or New Zealand which has voltage of 240v, you will
need a step down transformer which changes the voltage from 240v to 110v.
Note: Burn Direct does sell a number of Step Down Transformers and if required for
use with the Xbox 360, will offer additional Xbox 360 bundles which include a Step
Down Transformer.

|
Q. Do I need a special TV to use an import Xbox 360 console?
|
|
Xbox 360 does include standard definition and high definition output signals. You
will not need anything (other than HD component cables - includes in Premium Xbox 360
Pack) to use Xbox 360 on your TV.
If you don't have a High Definition or Component Compatible TV, you may need a
Multi-System TV.
There are four general types of TVs available: Multi-System, NTSC only, 50/60HZ PAL
only and 50Hz PAL only. The Japan and US version Xbox 360 will work on any Multi-System
or NTSC compatible TV through the standard composite AV cable (included with Core Pack).
Almost all TVs sold in the past 5 years or longer are Multi-System compatible, meaning
they can accept a signal from anywhere in the world (PAL, SECAM or NTSC).
If you own a PAL only TV, you will only get a black and white signal unless you use
a PAL Converter (which are available separately) to convert the colour signals.
If you have a 50/60HZ TV you will still get full screen and no borders.
If you own a 50Hz only TV you may get borders similar (but smaller) than a PAL version
console. You may also get a rolling picture on a 50Hz only TV which will need an
adjustment of the V-Hold or Vertical Hold control on your TV (for more details click
here).

|
Q. What is the difference between Core and Premium Xbox 360 Packs?
|
|
The Core pack is designed for the no frills gamer, it comes with a standard wired
controller, replacement face plate and composite AV cable (Red, White and Yellow
plugs). The Premium pack is designed for the hardcore gamer and comes complete with
a detachable 20GB Hard Drive, wireless controller, replacement face plate, headset,
High Definition component AV Cable, Ethernet cable and for a limited time on launch,
a DVD remote control.
Other Bundles may be available on launch as well, members on the waiting list will be
emailed details of bundles and given the option to purchase on a first in first serve
basis.

|
Q. How do I fix a rolling picture on my TV when using composite connection to Xbox 360?
|
|
Your TV is 50Hz PAL only and the rolling picture is a result of the extra speed (up
to 20% faster) of the NTSC signals. Because they run at 60Hz and your TV is only 50Hz,
you will need to adjust the V-Hold or Vertical Hold to compensate for the extra speed.
You will usually find this control on the outside of the TV and can make the slight
adjustment yourself. Make sure to place the setting so you can play your console and
watch your normal TV stations/Videos.
Some TV's may have the V-Hold adjustment inside the TV, if this is the case, we would
recommend getting a technician to make the adjustment, the fee for this service is
fairly minimal, please check your local area for a suitable professional.

|
Q. Does Xbox 360 have software region locks or territory protection?
|
|
It has been confirmed that like all previous consoles, the Xbox 360 will have software
region locks, meaning a Japan version console will only play games from Japan, a US
console will only play games from the US and so on.
As with all other consoles as well, Universal Upgrades (Xbox 360 Mods) will be
available in the near future and Burn Direct will be offering them to members who want
to play games from other regions for pricing, performance and release benefits.
Please note!: No information is available on Xbox 360 mods, obviously as the console
is not even available yet, so please do send through queries about it. Updates will
be posted on the Burn Site once any information on this is available.
